Ryan Blaney Wins Rain-Shortened Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Blaney's Victory Comes One Day After Josef Newgarden's Indy 500 Win

Rain Ends Race Early for Fourth Time in Coca-Cola 600 History

Charlotte, North Carolina - Ryan Blaney claimed victory in the 2023 NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday night, May 29th. The race was shortened to 395 laps due to rain, making it the fourth time in Coca-Cola 600 history that rain has prevented the race from being completed.

Blaney's victory marks his second win of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season and his first win at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He joins a list of winners who have triumphed in a rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600, including Denny Hamlin in 2019, Jamie McMurray in 2002, and Sterling Marlin in 1995.

The race began on Monday, May 29th, at 3:00 PM ET, and was scheduled to run 600 laps. However, heavy rain began falling during the race and forced NASCAR to red-flag the event on multiple occasions. After several delays, NASCAR officials ultimately decided to end the race early on lap 395 due to safety concerns.

Blaney's victory comes one day after Josef Newgarden's win in the Indy 500 driving for Team Penske. The two victories mark a successful weekend for Team Penske in the two most prestigious races in American motorsports.

The Coca-Cola 600 is the longest race on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule and is known as one of the most challenging races of the season. Blaney's victory is a testament to his skill and the dedication of his team.
